Welfare Rights – FAQs

Will you complete the forms for me?

Yes, our Benefits Officer will complete the forms with you. For Attendance Allowance, we can submit the form online on your behalf. For other benefits, we will ensure the forms are completed accurately and either submitted online or by post, depending on the benefit and your preference. If you would prefer to use paper forms, we are happy to support you with that option as well.

Do you appeal on our behalf?

No, we are not able to represent you at an appeal or tribunal. However, we can submit a Mandatory Reconsideration and support you through the process. If further appeal is needed, we can signpost you to organisations that can help.

Can you help me understand what I’m entitled to?

Yes, we can carry out a full benefits check to help you understand what you may be entitled to based on your personal circumstances.

Do you help with Universal Credit issues?

Yes, we can help with new claims, problems with existing claims, and understanding things like the UC journal, work commitments, and LCW/LCWRA assessments.

Can you help with Pension Credit applications?

Yes, we can support you in applying for Pension Credit and make sure you’re receiving all the additional support you may be eligible for.

Do I need to attend an appointment in person?

No, support can be provided over the phone, via video call, or in person depending on what suits you best.

What is the financial wellbeing service?

We can help with researching potential grants, understanding eligibility for discounts and concessions, and finding practical solutions for managing bills and expenses.

Can you help me apply for grants?

Yes, we can help you research and apply for grants you may be eligible for based on your financial situation and health needs.

Do you help with budgeting or debt issues?

Whilst we don’t offer in-depth debt advice, we can provide basic budgeting support and signpost you to specialist debt advice services if needed.

Can you help me reduce my bills?

Yes, we can explore ways to reduce your energy, water, and other household bills by applying for discounts, switching tariffs, or applying for schemes such as the Warm Home Discount.

Do I need to be receiving benefits to access this service?

No, you do not need to be on benefits to access financial wellbeing support. We work with a range of clients with different financial situations

Do you help with Blue Badge applications?

No, we do not complete Blue Badge applications. However, we can provide guidance and signpost you to the appropriate organisations that offer this support, depending on the area you live in.
